Community Involvement

Last year, Union donated generously to area schools, charitable organizations and local causes. We believe in building educational programs to empower our youth. Union sponsors financial education programs and supports initiatives that are vital to teaching financial literacy to young people. We support charitable organizations such as the United Way, Habitat for Humanity, local food banks and many more. In 2015 our teammates volunteered over 7500 hours giving back to the community through volunteering and nonprofit board activities.

Union Honors Henrico County Students

Union honored Henrico County students for their completion of the My Money, My Future program. Union has partnered with leading education technology company EverFi to bring this interactive, web-based financial management program to more than 200,000 students since the program's inception in 2010. This is at no cost to the schools or the taxpayer. We were one of the first banks in the nation to bring this program to students and chose schools in our bank's neighborhoods because we wanted to make sure students would be on a better path to manage their money and save for their future.

VBA Bank Day Scholarship Program

High school seniors across Virginia spend a day shadowing bankers in their daily duties. The purpose of this experience is for students to learn about banking, financial services and the vital role banks play in their communities. After the visit, the students are required to write a two page essay detailing what they learned about banks and their importance. Thirteen scholarships are awarded on the merit of the essays.

Dakota Langford, is 2016 Southwest Virginia Regional Winner. Dakota and 13 other seniors from Eastern Montgomery High School spent the day shadowing Union teammates on March 30th.
